Luis Hernandez For Cornelius City Council

Harnessing the energy of our community to have a better today and build a resilient tomorrow!

Welcome

I am running for City Council because we are growing and we need to be able to leverage that energy to make our community stronger. Our present leaders have helped pave the way to where we are today; at the gateway to a period of significant growth. With it comes a lot of opportunities to enhance how we live, work, play and share in our community. At the same time, there will be new challenges; increased demand for public services such as water, schools, public safety and roads. Of course, there are existing challenges like finding local amenities for our families, safe roads and sidewalks, high water costs, self-segregation, town center identity, etc. I believe that with sound judgement and a spirit of collaboration, we can harness this energy and momentum to make ours a vibrant community for the current and future families and businesses that choose to call Cornelius home.

We have to do what we can to help wherever and whenever it is possible for us to help.

Guiding Principles

My worldview and values have been shaped by my upbringing, education, public service and career. I believe in compassion, tolerance and service to the community. In my role as city councilor, my decisions will be framed by the following convictions:

  • Public infrastructure needs to be equitable, properly constructed and efficiently maintained.
  • Public safety needs to be, and be perceived as equitable for all.
  • Diversity and inclusion should be baked into how our city operates.
  • No resident of the city should feel alienated from the process of civic engagement.
  • Families should be able to find opportunities for recreation, entertainment and wellness in our community.
  • Everyone should have a safe place they can call home.
  • Growth and development should enhance our community’s identity, not supplant it.

In this time of growth and change, a vote for me will ensure that our City of Cornelius harnesses the energy of our past, present and future to truly make this Oregon’s Family Town.

A Unifier

Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.
